More about Bonnie Sieger and her book:
As a graphic designer who does a lot of work for political campaigns, Bonnie Siegler became interested in how generations before us dealt with resistance movements of their time. She uncovered hundreds of iconic, smart, angry, clever, and unforgettable images by citizens unafraid of speaking truth to power. Many of these images throughout our history are as relevant today as they were then. Because of this, she felt compelled and inspired to spotlight the various ways designers, artists, and ordinary people have used their voice to take to the streets and stand up for what’s right. SIGNS OF RESISTANCE is a visual history of these images of protest from 1754-2017. Chapters include: the American Revolution, Immigration, Women’s Suffrage, Civil Rights, Vietnam War, Black Lives Matter.
