Just because you’re starting your first campaign doesn’t mean you have to start from scratch.  If appropriate, talk to the person who held the office (or a similar office) before you – a few tweaks to tailor her plan might be all you need.  It’s also possible that your local political party has a tried-and-true template for your campaign.  It can’t hurt to ask!
